I love the motion and the movement in this piece- hand drawn over a vintage map of the Seattle, this artwork makes me so happy. This piece is a good reminder to stop, rest and breathe.

The Seattle Jellyfish are backed with a photograph that resembles water.

The white drawing is made by tracing the map lines into the Jellyfish silhouette.

Each piece is illustrated by hand

White ink, plexiglass, aluminum photo print, map

* I trace each map line with a white pen

The map is printed like a screen print
All work is based on USGIS and historical map files
All background photos are originals

The white ink is set with heat.

It doesn’t come off. (You can touch it)

All color in the background is an original photograph take by me.

Each photograph is matched to the map location.

About my work:

Maps are designed on clear plexiglass - I trace the map lines within the silhouette in white ink, creating original patterns from the topography or city block lines. Each map & illustration is backed with an original photograph I took on location. The unframed, dimensional nature of my work showcases the map, illustration and photographs in a single, contemporary design.

All maps are based on GIS, Forest Service Maps and historical files.
